Please read before the Rider Briefing at 11am at the Marquee

VENUE

The venue opens at 12 Noon on Saturday and closes at 2 pm on Monday (MOD rules not ours) so please do not arrive early. The event venue is Minley Warren Fields, Minley Manor, Minley Road, Blackwater, Hants GU17 9UF. The venue is on the A327 less than 1 km from the M3, junction 4A, from where it will be signed. The venue will also be signed from the A30 at Yateley. The venue entrance will be clearly marked and has a post box handily placed for recognition. The venue is not at Minley Manor barracks, Gibraltar barracks or Hawley, so please don’t try to get into them or you may end up on basic training all weekend!! Please respect our neighbours in the entrance road by entering and leaving the site quietly (especially at night) and remember to keep to the 10 mph speed limit on site. Catering will be available all weekend in the marquee.

PARKING & CAMPING AT THE VENUE

Parking and camping is only allowed in the marked out fields; please DO NOT PARK on the access road or verges. There is plenty of space for parking & camping on site, but please keep clear of taped off areas close to the Marquee. There is a separate area trackside EXCLUSIVELY for SOLOs, where only solo riders can camp beyond the marked line. Groups that include both SOLOs and TEAMS can camp adjoining each other either side of this line. This is necessary to ensure enough trackside camping for solo riders. The EMERGENCY ROUTES in the fields marked with ER posts, must be kept clear at all times, all EASY UP type shelters must be securely fixed down, barbeques should be off the ground and open fires are not allowed. Please take care when driving through the fields and remember that this is a military training area, so don’t pick up anything that looks like it may go bang!

If you want to bring dogs onto the site, please keep them on a lead at all times and clear up any fouling. There is drinking water, toilets and showers on site. Please do not clean bikes at the water point. QUIET TIME on site on Saturday will be from 11.30 pm to 7.30 am and on Sunday from 2 am until 8.30 am, so no generators, loud music or shouting during these times please. Finally, please collect your rubbish and take it home with you, or place it in the skips in the Arena.

REGISTRATION & PRACTICE

The course is open for practice from 12 Noon on Saturday until 7 pm and then from 8 am to 10 on Sunday. Remember though that there are no marshals or medics on the course during this time, so please go carefully.

Registration opens on Saturday from 6pm to 7 pm and on Sunday from 8.00am to 10.45 for Team confirmations and the collection of Rider Packs. Please remember that there is ABSOLUTELY NO ENTRY ON THE DAY, entries are not transferable at the event and to bring your MBSA RECEIPT with you in case of any query. Each member of a team will need to print their name on the day sheet and sign it. The last member of each Team to register will then be given the Rider Pack. ALL riders must be confirmed by 10.45am on the SUNDAY. Teams and Pairs will be given a WRISTBAND, which must be carried by the rider who is out on the course.

EVENT RULES

Team and Pairs riders go out individually, in relay, in any order and can either change over after each lap or continue. Team and Pairs riders may only change over in the TRANSITION AREA just after the Lap Finish Point and not anywhere else on the Course or in the Arena. If you are waiting you should enter the TRANSITION AREA, place your bike on the rack, and then wait at the fence for your rider to hand over the WRISTBAND. If you are completing a lap and changing over you must ride on the left hand side of the course after the lap Finish Point and enter the Transition Area, where you must DISMOUNT. You must then pass your WRISTBAND over the fence to the next rider, who should collect their bike from the rack, walk to the Transition Area exit and join the course taking care to avoid riders on the course.

Solo riders can only exit and enter the course at the SOLO Pit Area at the end of the Start straight.

All riders who have started a lap, must complete it, without short cutting the route at any point. If you suffer a mechanical problem you must complete the lap, on foot if necessary. Other riders are allowed to support a rider who has suffered a mechanical problem by offering support, parts and equipment but the rider must be self sufficient in carrying out any repairs. Please check your bike is in good order before you start and carry spares and tools with you during your lap. Please do not drop bar & energy gel wrappers on the course, use a pocket or the bins provided. Unsporting behaviour, foul & abusive language, course cutting and cheating will not be tolerated and will result in the exclusion of the Solo rider, Pair or Team. LIGHTS must be fitted to all bikes starting a lap after 7 pm and must be switched on by 8 pm. Solo riders’ LIGHT STICKS (given out in their Rider pack) must be lit at this time too, to alert other riders. Please ensure that you have a back up light, as riders not showing adequate light will be instructed to walk. Rear lights are not required.

START & FINISH

The course is approx 8 miles and really is a figure of 8! The Start time will be 12 NOON on Sunday, and riders will not be allowed to start another lap after 12 MIDNIGHT. The Start will be a mass start with riders on their bikes where riders will do a slow lap of the arena following the quad bike, passing back through the start point, at which time the quad will peel off and riders can start racing. Do not pass the quad until it has peeled off.

TEAMS AND PAIRS - PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR WRISTBAND!!

All riders must pass between the Start Boards on every lap. Winners will be decided by (1) the most laps and (2) by the quickest time. Lurking will be allowed just before Midnight, but riders must respect those who are still racing and keep the course clear.

Riding for 12 hours is not to be taken lightly! Remember to ride at a pace that initially may seem too easy, but holding back early on will pay dividends later when your competitors, who started too fast, are tiring! Ensure that you get into a regime of drinking adequately on every lap and eat regularly too, a little and often is best. There will be some sections of road/fire road on the course that are long enough to give you plenty of time for refuelling.

RELAXING – THE KILLER PRIZE DRAW AND PRIZE GIVING

From early evening Alex will be spinning tunes under the bridge then transferring to the Arena until late, where there will be free beer and chocolates, so when you have finished your riding come along and relax. Don’t forget to bring your rider number with you and put it in the Prize Bin as we will be having the Killer Prize Draw before the full Prize Giving and you have to be there to win! The Prize Giving will take place just as soon as we get the results sorted, which should be around 1am. There will be trophies and prizes for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each category.

COURSE MAP

The course is a figure of eight using an almighty bridge for the crossover. One lap is approximately 8.1 miles, give or take a bit. The map shows singletrack coloured purple and double track or fireroads in yellow. The opening first lap will include a controlled pace start loop following a quad bike.

ENJOY! Gorrick Team
